If you were a little kid in "cheder," you would probably first learn all the names of the letters and then the names of the vowels, then "komatz-alef aw, komatz-beis baw…" until you knew all 243 vowel-consonant combinations and only then, start reading real words.

Who has time for all that?!

Busy people in busy cities in busy millennia need quick fixes and that’s exactly what this course is. Within 5 minutes you are reading simple words and even sentences – with comprehension no less! The difference is that most quick fixes wear off quickly. This one is more like riding a bike – you never really forget.

Many people start with us literally from scratch, some know a few letters, some just get confused between certain letters. Whatever your level, reading accurately is the key to lots of good stuff – for many that’s Torah and prayer in the original. People really feel empowered, and that’s what we’re all about.

Your teacher, Shmuel Bortman, is an Israeli-Canadian Jewish studies educator who keeps it light and lively to keep you smiling as you "shover shinaim" – break your teeth on the text.
